Need to manage your personal and business separately? Customers in Germany can now open an N26 Freelancer account to manage personal and business finances side by side — and get cashback on business expenses.

And this update has even more in store. Customers who use Samsung devices can now add their N26 card to Samsung Wallet and pay using this bespoke, secure digital wallet. While customers who wear a compatible Garmin smartwatch can add their N26 card to Garmin Pay and make purchases using just their smartwatch — no need for a phone when you're out running!

Samsung Wallet is available in Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Norway, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland. Garmin Pay is not available to customers in Italy.

For customers in Germany, filing your tax exemption order just got easier. Now, you can submit your exemptions for Stock and ETF investments or your Instant Savings account quickly and simply right in the N26 app.

As always, this release is packed with exciting updates. First off, we've got great news for eligible N26 customers in France: Joint Accounts has arrived! Share an account (and a dedicated IBAN) with your loved one and manage your money together right from your phone.

Speaking of Joint Accounts, now you can set Insights to track spending for either your Main or Joint Account. Stay up to date on your outgoings each month to see what you're spending and where — either as a couple or on your own. Lastly, we've launched a new Notification Center in the 'My Accounts' section of your N26 app. This way, you can receive notifications from N26 even more easily than before.

Simply pick the amount you want to invest and how often you want to invest it. Our selection includes over 550 stocks and ETFs to choose from, and it's always expanding.

If you have an N26 Standard account, we've got great news with this update: Starting now, you'll have access to our expanded Insights feature. Allocate budget limits to specific categories like subscriptions, groceries, and meals out, and keep an even better pulse on your finances.

If you're a customer with a personal account in France (including a French IBAN), there's another reason to celebrate: Now, eligible customers can sign up for N26 Instant Savings. Earn interest on your funds with this interest-bearing deposit account, with no deposit limits or withdrawal restrictions. Interest rates vary based on membership.

New update, new version!

How many app updates can fit inside a single version? We’re not sure anybody keeps track of these things, but we may have broken the record with our App Version 3. And you better believe we made those (checks notes) 128 updates count, rolling out groundbreaking launches such as Joint Accounts, Savings, and Crypto, as well as stocks, and ETFs. Now, it’s time to acknowledge how far we’ve come by finally switching to App Version 4. We think it’ll be even more exciting than Version 3!

What else is new with 4.0? You can now specify what’s included in 'Your Balance' in the 'Finances' tab. If you wish, this overview of your total account balance can now add up the assets in your main account, Joint Account, Instant Savings, shares, or ETFs.

Simply head to the ‘Finances’ tab and invite a contact to open a joint account with you. Once it’s open, you’ll be able to link a card and set up recurring payments to pay for all your shared expenses.

Time for another update! This one gives you even more control over your finances. Now you can block and unblock direct debits right in your N26 app — with no paperwork, no hassle, and no need to contact Customer Support.

For customers with a personal N26 account, we’ve also improved our foreign currency transfer feature. One of these improvements is in the 'Review details' screen, where you'll now clearly see the amount that'll be sent to the recipient after the fee has been deducted.

N26 Instant Savings is available in 13 additional countries! Customers in Austria, Belgium, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, and Slovenia can now start saving with 100% flexibility.

We’ve revamped the Send Money screen to make it easier for you to make quick payments. Now your MoneyBeam and SEPA contacts are in one place, — simply select a recipient and make your payment.

If a contact has an N26 badge you can make instant MoneyBeam transfers to their N26 account. If they have no badge, you can send them money with a SEPA bank transfer.

We've expanded our travel insurance package for N26 You and N26 Metal customers who have to travel for necessary reasons – this includes claims for trip cancellations, medical emergencies, and more. Thanks to our partner finleap, customers in Germany, Austria and Spain can also now easily make N26 their main account by automatically transferring their standing orders, direct debits and recurring payments from another account. To do this, open your app and go to ‘My Account.’ Enjoy your new update!

Round-Ups is finally here! Premium customers can now save up the spare change whenever you pay by card – we'll automatically round-up to the next euro, and stash the difference away to a space of your choice. With this update, we have finally removed the last remnant of "headphone jack" code.
Well, actually there wasn't any "headphone jack code." So we just held a candle light vigil to them instead.
Now that we've gotten that off our chest, we can focus on less divisive issues like the dawning of iOS 12. With it, you can now use some of our most powerful personal features like accessing the balance of your Spaces or account balance. All with your voice.

New year. New update. What does that have to do with yellow underwear and polka dots?

Setting a resolution for the new year can seem pretty daunting. And sometimes counterintuitive. How? Setting insurmountable goals for yourself is a shortcut to self-sabotage. Or putting the horse in front of the carriage. Small, everyday changes amount to big progress. Here are a some small ways we're going to break things up this year.

1. Fix orphan bugs. Bugs live together. Just like in code. Forget one, it multiplies. Tying up unfinished business (taxes, debt, etc.) can free up time. Give yourself some time to do some busywork. It pays for itself. We've fixed a bunch of little bugs in this update. So enjoy the fresh, updated feel.
2. Be more colorful. That's the yellow underwear. It's a New Year tradition in Venezuela. And a quick way to brighten up your day. We've got some new marketing campaigns coming up that use some, ahem, colorful language.
3. Break things up. That's polka dots. In the Philipines, round shapes mean wealth. Round things are marvelous. They let things, thoughts, concerns pass by them and they break up patterns. Do something new. We're rolling out N26 Metal this year. It's a rounded package for your digital needs.

3.7.1 is here, and we've beautified our app to support the iPhone X fully. That's kinda great because now we support FaceID, unleashing the full power of that bezel-less notch. To celebrate our seamless notch integration, we're giving you:
A quick history of notches.
Notches have had many uses throughout mankind's history. From recording your height on door frames as you age to nocks (or notches) on the end of arrows to hold them on the bow's string when drawn.
What might be the most ingenious notching, however, came in the form of tally sticks, which societies from the Paleolithic era, right up to Medieval times, used in place of currency. It was a pretty clever way of accounting—you didn't need to know how to read or scrounge up precious metal for coins. Henry I used them for taxes in medieval England. You'd carve notches onto both sides of a lovely hazlewood stick, break it in half and give the longer stick to the debtor. If you can believe it, this system continued until the 19th century, until slowly being phased out. Hooray! To celebrate the disposal of these odious symbols of century-old debt, they decided to chuck them into a coal-fired stove in the House of Lords and watch them burn baby, burn. But then a raging fire erupted and almost burnt down the entire Palace of Westminster. Old debts die hard, I guess.

Here’s the big news:
We’re very happy to announce that N26 is now available with Apple Pay in France! While that's one big step for us, it's only a few taps for you. With in-app verification, adding your N26 Mastercard to your Apple Pay wallet is a breeze. Just open your Control Center and select My Cards. Tap Add to Apple Wallet and we'll transport your details over automatically.
Stayed tuned, we’ve got some more exciting news for a couple more of our favorite European countries.

Existing Austrian customers now have access to N26 Savings and N26 Overdraft. Hurrah! Both these tools are meticulously N26 (that’s a thing) and allow for powerful customization. Control your Overdraft limit and search for Savings plans in the app. You can get both in just a few minutes. We thought about requiring paperwork, but we got mad at our printer named Todd and remembered why no one likes him or paperwork (at all).

+++ Significantly fewer rockets +++
Rockets can be alarming, so we’ve freshened up onboarding with calming, new, helpful pulse cards. We think messaging is everything, so we’ve converted many alerts into pulse cards with more information. If you forgot to activate your card, for example, we’ll show you where and how to do that.

+++ Leave your treasure map at home +++
The cash map is now much clearer and displays how many free withdrawals you have remaining in the current month. Tap in the upper right corner to check your policy on withdrawals in your home country, in other Eurozone countries, and other countries around the globe.

Because our risk model evaluates all online payments in the background, you won't see this too often. The procedure is called 3DS, which you might know already under the name Mastercard SecureCode. Mastercard SecureCode makes the authentication process easy because it’s linked to your N26 Mastercard, so there is no additional registration required to use 3DS.

Now you can see coverage details of your insurance policies, access the contact details to issue a claim with ease and even set a renewal alarm – get a reminder ahead of time before your insurance policies auto-renew the contract.

Another big step forward! With this update we’re introducing a new way how to display all your existing insurances next to all your other financial services: N26 Insurance BETA is here.

In our ongoing quest to offer all the financial services you need in one app, we’re introducing the BETA release of N26 Insurance. It’s only available in Germany for now, but you BETA believe it’s coming to your country soon. Here’s the idea. We all have those thick binders at home full of paperwork – you get documents in the mail from your insurance provider, you two-hole punch them, and put them in your binder. N26 Insurance digitizes this whole process so you can have a single digital overview of all your insurance providers and policies. You don’t even need to find all your policy numbers and contracts to use it. All you have to do is swipe to the Insurance section of the app after you update, select your insurance categories and providers, and we’ll find your policies. Seal the deal by signing the broker mandate, and enjoy seeing all your policy details in one dashboard. Just one more complicated thing we’re helping make easy and paperless.

It was a long and and hard journey for all of us, but after months of anticipation, our very own N26 Bank is officially open for business. This is the next great step in our mission to make personal finance everything you know it should be – simple and enjoyable.

Our partnership with our previous partner bank is over, so technically we have to transfer your account from Wirecard Bank to N26 Bank. All the features you like will remain the same, except now we’ll be able to create new financial products for you even faster than before. On the surface of your app nothing changed, but we redesigned all our cards and have new options available for you.

Yes, another small release with little exciting to see on the surface. We’re working day and night for this and can finally say: N26 Bank is coming within the next week. We’ve taken more time before opening our doors so we could complete the finishing touches on our new products. You’ll be able to select one of these when we invite you to transfer your account. The login issues you might have had are also fixed.

In our last update we introduced the ability to request money through iMessage. Now you can also do this from within the N26 app.

+++ New Feature: Request money +++
We love doing things with our friends. Eating, talking, dancing, drinking, and now … requesting money. All you have to do is open the transaction menu from anywhere in the app, select Request, select your contact and request your lunch money back.

+++ Improvements and fixes +++
We experienced a few problems with TouchID – these problems should be fixed and you will be able to activate it again. A few speed problems and glitches in the interface were also resolved.

Small side note: These updates are coming hard and fast, and the one BIG THING you may be looking forward to is coming soon. You may be thinking “yeah, right, that’s just a trick to make me pay attention” but this is for real. We’ll send you the mother of all updates soon.

You are not reading this wrong. We are already back with another update, just in time for the new iOS 10. Send money by talking to Siri, use the brand new N26 widget and finally request that lunch money back – directly in iMessage.

+++ Use Siri to send money to your friends +++
We don’t know about you, but talking to our devices and making them do things is definitely a vision of the future we dreamed of as kids. As soon as you finish updating, activate N26 in your phone settings and ask Siri to send money to one of your contacts. For example, “Hey Siri, send €25 to Freddy using N26.”

+++ Request money in iMessage +++
Think of the last time you paid for everyone’s lunch and they were slow to MoneyBeam you back. When is it actually okay to remind them? Starting today, you can request money from your contacts through iMessage and avoid all the ... awkwardness. All you have to do is start a message, select N26 in the Apps menu and send your first request to a friend who is also using N26 with iOS 10. Of course you’ll receive the usual push notifications when you get paid.

+++ One more thing… +++
Need to glance at your account balance quickly? We added an N26 widget to the Today section of your iPhone. You can also “force touch” the N26 icon to see the widget with your current account balance, your available balance (including Overdraft) and the balance of your Saving/Investment accounts – all without opening the app.

Make sure to update to the brand new iOS 10 before trying these new features!

As a tribute to the glorious summer we just had here in Berlin, we’re freshening up our look. First, we played with color and typography in small but noticeable ways. Then we redesigned a few “invisible” things that will be important soon. We added a space for your scheduled future transactions so you can see which ones are coming up as soon as you log in. These are showing up when you scroll down from the top of your transaction list.

+++ For customers from Germany: Fair Use Policy +++
Back in July we announced our new Fair Use Policy, which offers 5 or 3 free ATM withdrawals per month in Germany. Implementation of this policy starts now so we’re including info screens and notifications, so you’re always in the loop.

You may be wondering how we even think of the numbers of these updates. We’re at 2.9 now. Is 2.10 next? What will it take to reach version 3.0? You’ll have to keep reading these to find out!

With this release we’re bringing you improvements for N26 Invest and international transfers.

+++ N26 Invest: Better charts +++
When we released N26 Invest a few weeks back, we wanted to break the ice for users who were interested in investing, but weren’t necessarily financial experts. With this update we’re making an important change to make it even easier to predict how portfolios could perform in the future. Every plan’s projection chart will now take into account any influence that the minimum fee has on any given plan. This change will make N26 Invest more transparent, accessible and user-friendly.

+++ TransferWise improvements +++
Who knew transferring money into foreign currencies could be so fun? We made a little change to our TransferWise feature to make it easier to play with different currencies and see the respective exchange rates.

We called in a ghost to squash all our bugs. Never know what hit ‘em.

How much did you really spend during your last vacation? How much of your money goes to delivery services every year? With this major update we improved our automated categories and introduced hashtags to make it much easier for you to answer these and many more questions. When you use tags to describe your transactions, the smart account will learn from you and give you better suggestions for categories and tags in the future.

+++ Express Card Delivery +++
Planning to take a trip in two days but you just realized that you lost your card? In Germany we now work with UPS to offer an optional express delivery service to get you your card in time.

Other improvements:
++ Contact Customer Support directly from the app
++ Attach photos to transactions when you want to keep invoices/receipts
++ New option to store your personal tax ID in application settings – which will come in handy for some cool upcoming features
++ Detail views of transactions look much cleaner
++ Cash Map makes it even easier to generate barcodes for cash withdrawals/deposits at CASH26 locations

New Beta feature: ATMs are included now as well, but since we’re still testing this, not all of them might be displayed correctly on the map.

Highly requested and finally here: Delete contacts from your list and take a look at the transaction history for each contact.

We are continually improving the new intelligent, customised insights on your home screen. When we introduced this feature in the last release we wanted to give you a little outlook to the future of banking: It will be all about context and getting personal. As you use the app more often, PULSE26 will also provide periodic, fun insights.

We also worked hard on a lot of stability and UI improvements under the hood to make your experience more enjoyable.
