Version 3.0.3

This holiday season, one app must finish what it started.

- New improvements for Apple Pencil which make the start of a stroke extremely responsive.
- Fixed Tilt values that were too large for some brushes, although all tilt sizes are beautiful.
- Fixed occasional blobs at the beginning of Apple Pencil strokes.
- There is now a Softness setting for each brush. Additional softening gives better results on glazed brushes.
- There are significant improvements to stroke taper. Now we want to stroke a tapir. Have you seen those things? So cute.
- 6B Compressed and Wood brushes have correct sidebar defaults.
- If you reset a brush it also resets the brush preview.
- Once you went into a Gallery group in Compact mode you could never, ever leave. The Back button is now more than just a tease.
- We fixed issues with rotations on Eyedropper, pinching/zooming, and Instant Replay.
- Your FiftyThree Pencil, Pogo Connect and Jot Touch 4 stylii are stylin’ once more.
- We have resolved issues sometimes experienced when purchasing Early Access. Probably.
- Renaming a layer no longer sometimes makes the layer interface vanish. Yeah, nah.
- We've added some improvements for non-French speaking Italians

Version 3.0.1

Procreate 3.0.1 brings significant improvements for stroke accuracy across all iPad models. We've fixed a bunch of things with stroke rendering and painting with styluses too. On top of these vast and excellent changes, we've also fixed some other stuff.

- We've patched a memory leak so no more crashing into icebergs and being left to die by Kate Winslet.

- The response time on the pressure curve was too slow, so we have diverted power from the main deflector to get that extra speed.

- Pressing a stylus button for undo/redo no longer performs the action multiple times.

- The Adonit Jot Script and Jot Script 2 styluses didn't paint at all. They do now.

- You can no longer set your brush size to smaller than a pixel, because it looks bad and should feel bad.

Some of you won't find the issues you've reported to us here, but never fear - this won't be the end of our Procreate 3 improvements. Stay tuned.

Version 3.0

It’s here. It’s happening. Procreate 3 is our biggest release yet, with more features and refinements than ever before.

With iPad Pro, Procreate 3 transforms the bounds of mobile creativity, allowing massive canvases: up to an incredible 16K in resolution. When using Apple Pencil, Procreate comes alive with all 128 brushes taking full advantage of pressure sensitivity, tilt detection and palm rejection. If you don’t have an iPad Pro, don’t worry - from Quickline and Instant Replay to the two pixels we shaved off the Transform tool button, there’s tons of new things to explore, no matter which iPad you have. Procreate 3 has over 100 new features and refinements. No, really, it does. We counted.

• Breakthrough resolution with up to 16K by 4K on iPad Pro, and 8K by 4K on Air 2. That’s canvases with more Ks than you’ve ever had before.
• We don’t often add new tools; but when we do, they’re things we know you want. Pause at the end of your stroke and Quickline will help you create precise straight lines without lifting a finger.
• One does not simply integrate Apple Pencil, so we’ve added predictive touch, coalesced touches, pressure sensitivity, and customizing modes for Pencil and multi-touch input.
• Brush settings have been added specifically for Apple Pencil; Accumulation, Flow, Tilt, and Azimuth. There are 8 new Artistic brushes to show off your hot, new capabilities.
• We made a cool new feature early in development and literally forgot about it until final testing. Now you can paint on brush previews to quickly test out all the new brush settings without having to paint on your canvas.
• Make your stylus work for you. Adjust the pressure curve of any supported stylus to tailor it to your personal style.
• Relive your artistic journey right there in the canvas. You can now Instant Replay your artwork without needing to export.
• We’ve made it easier to make things look like they’re going by really fast. Procreate 3 includes Motion Blur and fully customizable Perspective Blur: a Procreate exclusive.
• Support for iOS9’s multitasking allows your friends to keep distracting you while you paint. In compact Split View Preview mode, you’ll just be able to admire your artwork.
• For the seventh time, we’ve made Procreate's sidebar even better. You can now move the sidebar to wherever works best for you.
• Convoluted gestures have been replaced by simple taps; undo (2 fingers), redo (3 fingers), and fullscreen (4 fingers). So now you could, I don’t know, hold a pencil or something. The 1:1 ratio gesture has left to pursue other opportunities.
• Canvas rotations no longer have a strange wibble. Nobody likes strange wibbles.
• The new San Francisco font has been implemented throughout Procreate to help you read good.
• If you always want the shiniest, new things you can purchase our Early Access tools before they go free into the next Procreate release. This time it’s new Perspective Guide tools to help you paint in another dimension. You can create grids for up to 3-point perspective by tapping to add vanishing points. Perspective Guide Assist snaps your strokes to the guide.

If you’re enjoying using Procreate please leave a review on the App Store so we can keep bringing you cool stuff. Now - go forth and Procreate.

Version 2.3.1

iOS 9 is here! Our boss told us to release a bug fix update, but after extensive experiments with flies, beetles, a lot of adhesive tape and one very angry wasp, we decided that wasn’t going to work for us. So while Dave’s swellings went down, we fixed all these problems with Procreate instead.

- Swiping between the colour picker and the palette library made Procreate so confused it would stop working. Using small words and big pictures we’ve taught it the difference, and now it copes much better.
- Sometimes activating Reference Layer would look like it worked, but it really didn’t. This was very funny but not very useful.
- Under iOS 9, selecting a Wacom device crashed the app. We locked Procreate and Wacom styli in a room and didn’t let them out until they decided to get along.
- Multiply blend mode and some Adjustments were very broken. They’re better now.
- Swatch palettes didn’t want to go where you put them, now they do what they’re told.
- Exporting a PSD file by email will now actually work.
- We fixed an issue where copying a selection while in Transform mode would copy the entire layer instead.
- We also thought it would be great if the video recording setting actually enabled you to turn video recording on or off. Radical, we know.
- Changing your background colour used to also change your selected colour. While this was inclusive and heartwarming, it wasn’t overly practical.
- Using the eyedropper from a stylus button reset your previous colour. Now for the eight of you that use this feature, it will work properly.
- The Adonit SDK really liked putting things in the top left corner of the screen. With great effort, we’ve coaxed it back to the actual canvas.
- Support for the Hex3 Jaja has been removed, and there was much rejoicing.

If you haven’t seen yet, we’ve just made a big announcement - Procreate 3 is coming. This free update for existing users will be our biggest release yet, and it’ll be out by the end of 2015. For more information, check out http://procreate.si

Version 2.3

We don’t often release updates, but when we do…

• Wacom ICS 2 support
We’re thrilled to finally announce that the Wacom Intuos Creative Stylus 2 is now supported in Procreate! Wacom have been working seriously hard on significant SDK improvements specifically for Procreate compatibility. Together, we’ve been able to bring support to Procreate 2.3 on any device from iPad 2 to iPad Air. iPad Air 2 users can still connect and use all the features of the ICS 2, but the stylus will remain officially unsupported on that iPad model.

• Light Interface
The trademark dark Procreate interface has always made working indoors a pleasure. The problem was as soon as you ventured outside into the sunlight to get creative, the interface kind of melded into a big murky pool of dark mush.

With Procreate 2.3, you can just flick a switch and the entire interface will transition into beautiful and completely new Light interface, made specifically for working in bright conditions. It’s kind of like sunglasses for Procreate. Except not dark. And nothing like sunglasses. But trust us; painting outdoors is now pretty cool.

• Fixed the annoying color bug
Apparently if you had a menu open, and you attempted to open colors, you could open the color menu and pick a color but the color you chose wouldn’t actually be the color you saved. Confused? So were we! But what’s important is that we crushed this confusing and annoying bug with furious anger and mighty vengeance.

• Refined UI items
We’ve included a few small but nice interface refinements for you to discover. We hope you like them.

• Turn Palm Support™ off
Palm Support, while awesome, was occasionally less awesome than it should have been for some people some of the time. For those people, you can now completely turn Palm Support off in your iPad’s Settings app. If you’re a new Procreate customer and you’d like to see how Palm Support can work for you, you can turn it on in Settings app any time you like.

• Stability improvements and bug fixes
Don’t let the mundane “Bug Fixes” thing throw you off. We’ve spent a whole lot of time crushing literally hundreds of bugs, quirks, glitches and random events. Here’s some of the fixes you have been waiting for:

• FIXED Opening colour popover from another popover prevents colour change from saving
• FIXED Eyedropper activates when disabled on launch
• FIXED Clear layer bug
• FIXED ColorDrop Threshold glitch
• FIXED PSD file export crashes
• FIXED .procreate file export crashes
• FIXED Transform mode caused cutting an object to crash
• FIXED Pasting with any menu open causes crash
• FIXED Numerical keypad touch glitch
• FIXED Compositing glitch on colour picker handles
• FIXED Selection mask bug
• FIXED Numeric colour picker gestures
• FIXED Layer would sometimes clear while using Palm Support
• FIXED Layer opacity would reset after relaunch
• FIXED Curves control points could be placed outside curve area
• FIXED HSB and colour balance sliders jump the first time they're used
• FIXED Fix continuous allocation churn when curves filter on-screen
• FIXED Fixed main colour popover gestures
• FIXED Layers button inactive on launch

If you like this update, please consider leaving us a nice review on the App Store. We enjoy reading your reviews and every star-rating is a massive help.

Version 2.2

For the last six months we’ve been locked in our lab, applying science to iPads to see what happened. As a result we’ve been able to optimize Procreate to take advantage of the phenomenal power of the iPad Air 2, integrate the flexibility of iOS 8, and finish something we’ve been working on for a long time - Palm Support.

Palm Support is like palm rejection, but better. It’s always on and you can use a regular capacitive stylus or even your finger. You can finally use gestures in tandem with resting your palm on the surface of the iPad screen without the worry of drawing over your canvas. Palm Support is completely transparent and will not interrupt performance or your workflow.

iCloud Drive, AirDrop and AirPrint are now accessible from Procreate through the new iOS 8 Sharing. You can now export to and import from iCloud Drive, as well as any other storage service that provides an iOS 8 extension.

iPad Air 2 runs Procreate brilliantly, and users with an iPad Air 2 will see increased layer caps across all canvas sizes.

Additionally we’ve done a bunch of other things. Here’s some of them:

- Rebuilt some major parts of Procreate to improve stability and memory usage
- Updated all stylus SDKs
- Added eyedropper as a stylus button option
- Added Merge Down to layer options menu
- Improved Palette Library interface
- Improved Brush Settings interface
- Interface tweaks throughout Procreate
- Bug fixes

Version 2.1

We are continually inspired by our users, and our aim is always to bring you the very best stuff. With that in mind, we’ve got a bunch of presents for you. Just pretend it’s your birthday.

- ColorDrop! Just drag your selected color and drop it where you want to fill. It’s actually that easy. It ain’t your grandpa’s paint bucket.

- Threshold adjustments! Continue holding when using ColorDrop and you can slide your finger to adjust the fill threshold for seamless color fills.

- Reference layer! This is to show how much we love our comic artists; now you can create perfect fills without affecting your inks. Swipe your inking layer with two fingers to activate it as the Reference. Select another layer, and ColorDrop can fill into the selected layer, based on the Reference.

- Color Wheel! Use the new color ring for more fluid color selection. Pinch to expand the center and choose the perfect shade.

- Give us your number! Procreate now features numerical color input so you can get the exact color you want.

- Better Swatches! Save a color to a swatch with a single tap. To delete a swatch, simply pick it up and throw it away.

- Swatch Palettes! Create custom swatch palettes and save them, name them, order them. Most importantly, you can easily export your palettes to share with other users, and import palettes from other artists.

- Multilingual! Procreate has now been translated into fourteen language options, including German, Japanese, French, Italian, Spanish, Chinese (simple), Chinese (traditional), Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Turkish and Arabic.

- A bunch of other stuff! Procreate 2.1 also includes heaps of tiny fixes and performance improvements which you probably won’t even notice, but we promise they’re awesome. Here’s some of the highlights:

- Updated all stylus SDKs
- New support for Pencil by FiftyThree
- New Recolor filter
- Create a new canvas from Photos
- Redesigned Brush source interface
- Polished precision slider interface
- Activate eyedropper while color popover is active
- Improved layer gestures for better scrolling
- Painting immediately dismissed popovers
- Selected Brushes and Layers now highlight Procreate Blue
- Improved selection and transform workflow
- Rebuilt import and export systems with simplified interfaces
- Refined artwork naming in the Gallery
- Popover system entirely rebuilt for reliability

- Homework! Make sure you download the latest version of the Procreate Handbook, available for free on the iBooks Store and through the Procreate Help menu.

We hope you enjoy this update. If you would like to see more updates like this, please leave a short App Store review and let others know. Your review makes all the difference!
