In this release we fixed a couple of things when placing your ad. If you only want to allow the use of your camera and not your photo albums, it’s now possible! In addition, we also solved a crash where when taking photos a long press could cause the app to crash, it still doesn’t do anything but at least it doesn’t crash anymore.

This update introduces two significant changes to the experience of placing your ad on Marktplaats. Firstly we’ve introduced required attributes for certain types of ad, just the same as how it works on the website. Secondly, we’ve added a search feature to the category selection to make it easier to place your item in the right category. An ad with clear photos says more than a thousand words. But if you have more than 1,000 photos on your phone, opening your album is sometimes difficult. Not any more, because our new image picker has no problem with that. Not even if you want to select photos from different albums, or add multiple photos from the camera.

Good news for R&B fans! Our app was temporarily befuddled by the &-character and searches containing it didn’t work very well. But now everything is fine & dandy.
We can also now pre-fill your license plate when you upload a photo of a car where one is visible. So you have less to do when placing your ad!

It’s time for a change. You’ll see the first one when starting the app – we’ve refreshed the splash screen! If you tap to open an ad and it’s just been sold, we’ll show similar alternatives. We’ve applied science, technology, artificial intelligence and advanced tinkering to this feature, so you should find the alternatives highly relevant. So if you’ve missed out on that particular item, at least you’ll have other options!

From now on it’s easier to find KiKa ads during a search: just add the word “KiKa” to your search term. This makes it even easier to help the charity! We’ve also made some technical improvements: the most important is a fix for an issue that some of you experienced where ad videos were able to play automatically full-screen.

Good news! From Monday 5th February the series “Marktplaats: Heel Holland Handelt” will start on SBS6. To ensure that the “whole of Holland” can continue to enjoy Marktplaats we’ve squashed some bugs and made a few improvements.

Thanks to the diligent user who spotted a bug with our categories screen where the bottom item was inaccessible – we’ve fixed it. Instead of dismissing the programmer responsible as requested we’ve asked them to bake cake for the rest of the team. As always, thanks for bringing our attention to parts of the app that fall short, whether through reviews or our contact page!

We’ve also made a number of small UI improvements, and solved some “underwater” bugs. Bigger things are on the way!

Happy New Year! Our new year’s resolution is to make it even easier for you to buy and sell things on Marktplaats. Since 2017 brought with it Escrow, Payment Requests, Notifications and the “For You” feed that’ll be quite an undertaking, but we’re aiming high!

We found out that we had made a small mistake in our app displaying end dates on your ads: they always showed up as “today”. We fixed that right away but had to wait until the champagne was out of our blood before we made it available. Just like driving a car, updating Marktplaats is something that should only be done sober…

Escrow payments! You trade safely, we keep improving the app. Starting from this version you can change your bank account from the settings menu in Mijn Marktplaats. Now you won’t miss any iDEAL payments and can happily use Escrow. We also fixed a bug when selecting mileage and year of construction while refining the results for cars.

We’re working hard to bring improvements to escrow payments! New in this version, you can get an overview of your transaction and what phase they’re in. Look out for the transaction overview screen in every conversation in which payments have been made. It’s also now easier as a buyer to request escrow payments, using the payments request button in messaging.

There is something cool in this release, but we can only enable it once enough people have this update. So tell the strangers on the street to update asap. We have also removed some unused code. Since it was unused you should not notice it though. But everyone likes a well trained fit app right?

It is now possible to ask the seller if you can pay them via a "Betaalverzoek". It is so easy you can almost do it with the press of a button (in fact it's 2 buttons). We also made the scrolling experience much smoother on the results page.

In this version we’ve worked to make the Marktplaats experience more comfortable for those large screen fans using iPad Pro. We’re also celebrating the promotion of our colleague Wesley.
