Sales Engineer

To us, sales isn’t just pitching a vision, closing a deal, then handing them a product; it’s providing an amazing experience centered around helping a prospect analyze our data and evaluate our product. We believe one of the keys to our success is having a strong Sales Engineering function. This hands-on role will be the first Sales Engineer hired into Apptopia and will have the opportunity to shape what this function means moving forward.

How you’ll Make a Difference:


As Apptopias’ Sales Engineer, you will be responsible for providing pre-sales technical and functional support to prospective clients while ensuring customer satisfaction. Acting as a subject matter expert you will; Work closely with the sales and customer success teams to both sell and support our API, and Data Integrations (see:https://apptopia.com/integrations-passport). Diagnose and address API / Integration-related questions, or facilitate with engineering in the case you can not answer directly. Extract requirements for custom reports, data dumps, and integrations from clients directly. Process these external requirements into internal requirements for our engineering team. Develop a deep understanding of our data & technology capabilities to be able to better advise customers, sales, and customer success on what is possible and what is the best solution for the given problem.


In this role, you will help bridge the gap between our clients and our engineering, product, sales, and customer success teams. The ability to creatively explain and present complex concepts in an easy-to-understand manner is required. You should have experience working with data and an understanding of SQL, SaaS, and programming languages like R or Python.


Within 1 month, you will:


  • Complete onboarding with the team within your first two weeks

  • Familiarize yourself with data methodology and the mobile landscape

  • Get to know your colleagues on our Engineering, Customer Success, Product, and Sales teams

  • Identify pain points and opportunities in the team’s current processes with fresh eyes, and share from past experiences


Within 3 months, you will:


  • Become an expert in Apptopia’s product offerings

  • Redesign our engineering ticket prioritization process

  • Build out our sales engineering playbook

  • Report progress on sales engineering goals to the board of directors

  • Work with sales and company leadership to identify areas of improvement in our sales process

  • Work closely with prospective customers to clearly communicate and demonstrate Apptopia’s value proposition
