Last October, I looked into the UK market and found the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.apptopia.com\/top-digital-banks-grow-new-users-209-over-the-past-six-quarters\">top digital banks had grown new users 209%<\/a>. The US market for digital banks is significantly smaller than that of the UK, but we\u2019ve started to see the big players from the UK cross the Atlantic to try their hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image apptopia__blogu002du002dimg\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full apptopia__blog--img\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"428\" src=\"https:\/\/apptopia.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/uk-launch-us-Feb-10-2021-01-45-13-34-PM.webp\" alt=\"UK challenger banks launch in the US\" class=\"wp-image-793\" srcset=\"https:\/\/apptopia.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/uk-launch-us-Feb-10-2021-01-45-13-34-PM.webp 650w, https:\/\/apptopia.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/uk-launch-us-Feb-10-2021-01-45-13-34-PM-300x198.webp 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:60px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>While these apps have been available to download in the US for quite some time, their services have just recently gone live.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/apptopia.com\/apps\/unified\/8080435927\/performance\">Monzo<\/a>&nbsp;launched its beta in the US in June 2019 followed by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/apptopia.com\/apps\/unified\/8102208468\/performance\">N26<\/a>&nbsp;launching in July.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/apptopia.com\/apps\/unified\/8080582422\/performance\">Revolut<\/a>&nbsp;went live late in March 2020. It\u2019s also averaging more monthly downloads than&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/apptopia.com\/apps\/unified\/8112586590\/performance\">Bank of America<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/apptopia.com\/apps\/unified\/8080893729\/performance\">Wells Fargo<\/a>&nbsp;over the past six months. It will enable the Varo to offer a full suite of products such as credit cards, installment loans, home equity lines, CDs and robo-investing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/apptopia.com\/apps\/unified\/8080886884\/performance\">Simple<\/a>&nbsp;launched in 2009 but its mobile app did not launch until May 2012. Still, its app is the oldest in the challenger bank space. Even though the app and company had a nice head start, it only holds 1.2% of the mobile app market.
