- Grubhub (JET) – Grubhub mobile app usage bounced this month after announcing a partnership with Amazon – app sessions +30% YoY in the first 2 weeks of June. The initial pop from the partnership faded and Grubhub’s app usage turned negative again in the latest week, but our data supports consensus expectations for sequential growth in Total Orders.
- Doordash (DASH) – Doordash mobile app sessions continue to grow in 2Q, with strong YoY growth but a deceleration from the previous quarter (in-line with consensus Doordash orders +17% YoY). Doordash is also attracting more drivers on the Dasher app.
- Instacart (CART) – Apptopia estimated sessions growth on Instacart decelerated in 2Q, and supports consensus expectations for a slight deceleration in Total Orders growth.
Food delivery & driver apps
Grubhub (JET) showed initial signs of a turnaround this quarter with an uptick in downloads/mobile usage in June after announcing a partnership with Amazon that gives Prime users a Grubhub+ membership. Grubhub app sessions grew +30% YoY in the first 2 weeks of June. The initial pop from the partnership faded and Grubhub’s app usage turned negative again in the latest week, but our data supports consensus expectations for sequential growth in Total Orders.
Mobile data on Doordash continues to be interesting – our data supports consensus expectations for a deceleration in Total Orders growth (with panel sessions tracking +17% YoY, up from +8% in 1Q24). Doordash also appears to be enticing more drivers to the app with Doordash Dasher growth accelerating to 50%+ YoY in the latest week. Our panel is showing the uptick as well with drivers on each of the other apps using Doordash Dasher app more in 2Q24.

Apptopia estimated sessions growth on Instacart decelerated in 2Q, and supports consensus expectations for a slight deceleration in Total Orders growth. The Instacart and Instacart Shopper apps both saw YoY growth fade in June, and our panel sessions data shows a slight sequential decline from the previous quarter.
